Stepping into the world of UNHOLY NIGHTMARE...

With Unholy Nightmare #3's crowdfunding campaign beginning soon, it seems like it is about time to hop aboard and talk about this series that I recently picked-up & read.

Unholy Nightmare takes place in modern-day on the on the outskirts of Chicago, in Gary. My first time ever hearing of Gary, was when I was in my early 20's (early 2000's) driving over the road. My codriver told me how exceedingly high the murder rates were there & to be careful. We were laid over for the night, went into Chicago where we froze up & kept getting messages on our truck computers how drivers had been beaten & tied up at gunpoint, and robbed. So this is the impression that always sticks with me for Gary, Indiana & Chicago – even though I'd been to Chicago yearly as a boy to goto the Shriners Hospitals for Children there (due to my marfanism). They were very nice to me, but I digress.

There are a myriad of characters in this, which include law enforcement, a heroine love interest, a hero/anti-hero, villains, etc. Themeatically, this would be somewhat in the vein of Spawn by Todd McFarlane. The main protagonist, The Recluse, a man who has ther powers to shift into a Morbius/Spider-Man hybrid-looking character, who stalks the night & kills evil doers. Like Mothman, Jersey Devil, Spring-heeled Jack, or whatnot, he's some kind of folklore-esque haint, as far as many are concerned concerned. Now he & his shapeshifting werewolf female associate have been encountered by another supernatural being, Count Dracula.

Without saying much more, this is the shape and tone of the series. It's the cryptozoological that lies in the corners of some people's vision followed through tales of violence, survival, and woe.
